Workshop Description: Looking for ideas for creative movement? Help us tell a story without words. Join us as we explore the world of movement in the Orff-Schulwerk classroom. We will take our inspiration from everyday experiences, literature, music and more! From five-minute warm-ups to full performance pieces, come play, come move.
Clinician Biography: Dr. Patrick Ware, a Boston native, began his composition studies at Westfield State College where he earned the Bachelor of Arts degree in Music. After receiving his MSEd from Radford University, he completed his Orff-Schulwerk Certification and movement apprenticeship at George Mason University. Patrick completed the doctoral program at the Shenandoah Conservatory of Shenandoah University in 2016.
Along with his K-5 general music, and choral duties in Prince William County Public Schools, Prince William County VA, Patrick is an American Orff-Schulwerk Association (AOSA) approved Teacher Educator of Levels courses all over the country. He is a triple threat; |
teaching other teachers pedagogy, movement, and recorder in those Levels courses. Dr. Ware is a sought out presenter all over the world, having recently shared his knowledge with students in Singapore.
Beyond his work with his students in Virginia, and with teachers of other teachers, he is a leader in the field of general music education on a national level. He has previously served as the Vice President of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access for AOSA and previously served as the Vice President of AOSA.
Dr. Ware has a passion for composing music for elementary and middle school aged students. He has written several books containing arrangements for barred instruments (glockenspiels, xylophones, and metallophones) and the treble voice through Beatin’ Path Publications.
