Workshop Description: Each class is heterogenous and includes children with diverse abilities, interests, experience, types and levels of learning. Planning for diversity is challenging and involves differentiating and adapting tasks and roles to match the possibilities of the individuals instead of the group having to adapt to a rigid form. This workshop will present a variety of ideas for creative work with music and movement that can be adapted for different age groups. Starting points will include songs, rhymes, poems, stories and pictures. We will look at principles of inclusive teaching and discover ways of differentiating to enable each child to have access to the topic, express themselves and to participate and create at their own level. Handouts will be provided.
