Vertical Divider
Dear NE/AOSA members and friends,
Welcome to the 2023-2024 workshop season for the New England Chapter of the American Orff Schulwerk Association! We are a professional community of creative music and movement teachers excited by lifelong learning and opportunities for collaboration with other teachers and students. On behalf of NE/AOSA, welcome! We are hoping to continue growing our chapter this year and we need your help in reaching out to colleagues and friends and inviting them to join us for an exciting year of professional growth opportunities! School is out for the summer and I hope this past year was full of “aha” moments for you and for your students - moments that inspired you and brought forward new questions and ideas for next year! Whether you are enjoying a relaxing summer of gardening at home, or traveling or taking classes to enrich your teaching skill, I hope this message finds you experiencing rejuvenating and reflective experiences with families and loved ones. As you begin to process last year and look forward to next year, NE/AOSA is here to help! This past year we invited members and friends of our chapter to reach out and let us know what YOU would find helpful to enrich your teaching and we listened. This year’s workshops reflect the interests and challenges our members identified and we are so excited to present our workshop series to you.
We welcome music/movement teachers, classroom teachers, early childhood teachers, church musicians, college students, administrators, professors, retired teachers and all who have an interest in fostering creative music-making and movement. We welcome YOU!!!

NE/AOSA Board News
It truly takes a village to make good things happen and we have extraordinary leaders who have stepped forward to help our chapter grow. NE/AOSA would not be able to function without these dedicated volunteers whose behind-the-scenes work facilitates the smooth running of our chapter. We are first and foremost so indebted to Eithne Stover who has led our chapter with such grace and mindful leadership these last two years. Her gentle and quiet support paired with her passionate, capable leadership have helped our chapter to bloom into an inclusive, warm, welcoming community as we have worked together to begin the process of examining our teaching practice in a post-Covid world. Eithne remains on the NE/AOSA Board this year as Vice President. Please thank her when you see her this Fall!
I also want to thank Jesse Francese, Dave Ruggiero, and Eithne for their extraordinary expertise and long hours of volunteer work this summer updating and redesigning our Workshop Series registration process. You might be surprised at how many extraordinary humans help us to bring you world class professional development in NE/AOSA! Here are some of them:
It takes many skills and areas of expertise to grow a chapter! It feels so gratifying to give of oneself to a worthy cause - please consider how you can contribute to NE/AOSA! And, finally, thank YOU for becoming a part of our NE/AOSA family! Thank you for your interest in world class opportunities in creative music and movement experiences that will improve your teaching!
And with that our 2023-2024 season is officially open!
We think it’s the best value for quality professional development around as well as a wonderful way to connect with and learn from fellow music educators while growing your professional community! Please consider forwarding this to a friend or colleague who may be interested in joining our community of music educators. Growing our chapter benefits all of us and helps us to continue bringing excellent clinicians to our area.
With all best wishes for a rejuvenating summer and an exciting school year,
Gratefully,
Karen Medley
